Crows Coffee : A merging of styles

Due to the construction of a new Whole Foods grocery store, a wall was built to protect civilians from debris, dust, water & etc. In the process of creating this barrier, local shop owners who are located 15 feet from the wall have had their public visibility blocked off from the main street and have also had their views from inside of the shops replaced with this barrier that expands the length of the street that they are located on.

As a means of problem solving, the owner of Crows Coffee reached out to both DJ Burton and SIKE to use their creative skills to curate a mural on this barrier, in order to give current customers something to appreciate while using the shops and as a way to make the best of their current situation.

The current mural is a large collaboration, consisting of the work of Zachary M. Laman, DJ Burton, JT Daniels, Phem9 & SIKE.

THE ARTISTS

SIKE STYLE has been a street art enthusiast for some time in the KCMO area. His graphic design based elements, which shine when paired with his distinctive usage of shards for visual movement, bold colors that allow his images to jump off the wall and a hip hop fueled vibe is what has made his work stand out so distinctly to those who have seen his work.

DJ Burton has a ubiquitous approach to lettering, whereas he's shown through his work that he can express ideals through his typographic influenced styling, but that he's also mindful of the portions of speech that dictate how a word feels when it's spoken...which he's taken to describing WOAH with textures such as wood, smoke, rust and etc.

Zachary Laman currently paints images of fantastical birds, insects and whales, where these animals are made with to look highly realistic with his virtuous blending skills, but upon closer inspection, you can see where the animals anatomy has been redesigned by the artist to appear more ethereal or stylish.
