Ten Thousand Villages
7947 Santa Fe Dr, Overland Park, KS 66204
Exterior mural created for Ten Thousand Villages, which is a global maker‑to‑market movement that breaks the cycle of generational poverty and ignites social change. They foster a way for you to shop with intention for ethically-sourced wares — and to share in the joy of empowering makers in ten thousand villages. As a pioneer of fair trade, they do business differently, putting people and the planet first. Working with this in mind, I created a design that reflected their village market place / maker space. The figures within the mural are all women (a reflection of the 50+ volunteers running Ten Thousand Villages organization) and they represent the 4 countries they trade with most predominately. The items in the mural are merchandise made in these countries that are available in their store, but they displayed in the same fashion that they would be made or sold in their own villages (hence the rugs hanging from lines and women weaving baskets.)
